In the period of 18-31 March 2015, the Automobile Club of Moldova (ACM) in collaboration with the RACE (Real Automóvil Club de España) and UAMK (Automobile Club of the Czech Republic) carried out road safety trainings for the employees of Gas Natural Fenosa (GNF), the largest electricity distributor in Moldova. Therefore, the ACM carry on its partnership and cooperation with the GNF to improve occupational road safety in the company. (http://goo.gl/epC7fU, http://goo.gl/MId1Bk).
Over 700 workers including the top managers attended the theoretical road safety course, at which were explained the main road traffic risk factors (drink driving, distracted driving, driver fatigue, seatbelt non use, speeding, tires), as well as how to reduce them.
Further, the participants of the training (both as drivers and passengers) tested the turnover simulator and understood the importance of seatbelt use, because they felt the laws of physics through the rotation of 360 degrees.
The drivers also had the chance to practice the driving simulator and were surprised by risk and dangerous traffic situations. In this way, they were taught how to brake effectively and avoid the crash; they checked their braking reaction time and recognized what the stopping distance meant and how it was affected by the speed.
The main benefit of the delivered course is that drivers have become aware of what may be happening on the road and that leads to more responsibility and attention.
This kind of training is applied by all big companies (which have car fleets) in Europe, as it is followed by a reduction of road accidents and victims and
operational costs with vehicles, but at the same time by fuel savings and ecological driving.
